Chocolate Heaven in a Cup

Good afternoon, world!   It has been a crazy day over here.  This morning we woke up late and realized it was because our power had gone out!  I knew it seemed like I got way too much sleep.

We actually had a breakfast post planned, but unfortunately were not able to cook anything or get online.  We decided to head to a local Cafe, called Star Co., where we ordered a nice lunch and utilized the internet.

Star Co. is a cute little cafe that serves Fair Trade coffee and organic food.  They have wraps, salads, sandwiches, mini-pizzas, pastries, brewed coffee, and specialty coffee drinks.  Every time we go, we always leave super satisfied.

Today, we each ordered a half sandwich/soup combo.  Guess we can’t get enough of it!  The Boar’s Head turkey sandwich was served on toasted bread with organic lettuce, tomato, and Swiss cheese.  We also got to choose from various types of pesto and made the decision to get Asiago cheese pesto.  Large pickle on the side! SO good!

For my soup, I ordered a classic chicken and rice:

Since we were a little stressed out with the electricity situation, we decided to go all out and order this chocolate/vanilla/caramel heaven in a cup.  The star of the show:

Before we even took our first sip, the owner of the cafe brought us over a second drink:

Apparently, the first one came out a bit more liquid-y than normal, but we probably wouldn’t have noticed.  How nice are they for just giving us an extra one, though?! Such great customer service.

We drank about 1.5 of the frappe, and I ate about 3/4 of my meal and gave Dustin the rest.  Tends to work out that away a lot.  He is six feet and I’m 5’ 4”!

Meet Your Modern Day Griswolds

This was our second attempt at decorating for Christmas this year.  After a long and crazy few weeks, we finally had the time to get our tree up.  Thanks to Craigslist we now have the perfect tree! $15 for a 7.5 foot artificial Canadian Pine tree!

Here I go putting up lights on the lower level.  This was a lot of work.

Can you believe how tall this tree is?!  I am 6ft tall myself, so you can imagine how I feel standing beside this seven and half foot tree in an apartment.

After many trial and errors, we finally came up with this marvelous looking tree!

Midway through decorating, we realized we didn’t have everything we needed.  So of course that called for a trip to Walmart to  get some more Christmas decorations.  What can I say, we love this time of year!

We also picked up these four candles for one dollar each.  Take that, $2.25 Glade candles!

Look what Tracy did with a few candles and the snowman salt and pepper shakers.

Here is a snowman cookie jar that we won at my father’s Christmas party.  Make a wish!  Let’s just say this cookie jar is the only gift from the party that we can post on our G-rated blog.  Good ole White Elephant gag gifts! 😉

Penguin and snowman straws.  It can’t get any better than this.

As you can see we love to play darts!  Merry Christmas!  There is nothing better than a fresh espresso shot in a penguin glass. Or cat glass.  Or snowman glass.

Yummy!  When Tracy told me about Soy Eggnog I was so excited.  I recommend this over diary eggnog.  (Only 90 calories per. serving!!)
